These phots are a week late, but I thought I’d share them anyway. Last Wednesday I went to see the cherry blossoms on the day they peaked. If you ever have the chance to see them when they are in full bloom I highly recommend it! I think it looks like the branches are covered in fluffy, pink, cotton candy. It is always crowded, but it’s completely worth it.
So do you want to know the best part about Valentine’s Day? (And Mother’s Day too for that matter.) The price of flowers the week after! Keep your eyes open, I always find great sales on flowers at grocery stores everywhere the week after these holidays. Especially keep your eye open for flowers that aren’t red or pink. Last year I made an amazing bouquet, and I plan to do it again this year (pictures hopefully to follow!).

My Mom and I had a conversation about hot air balloons while I was home for the holidays. And now memories of hot air balloons keep popping up in my mind.
As a child I would spend time at my grandparent’s home in Napa. The early mornings were always punctuated with the sounds of the propane heaters in the hot air balloons as they would float over the vineyards. I miss that sound. Sometimes we’d sleep on the trampoline in the backyard, and in the morning the balloons would float right over the top of us. People would always wave. Once a balloon landed near the reservoir in the vineyard behind the house.
Maybe someday I’ll take a ride in one. . .

So it’s been depressing as all get-out here, the rain never stops. It’s overcast and gloomy. I’ll admit that I don’t handle the cold very well, but I do better when there is quantitative amounts of sunshine. So, to brighten your day(and mine), here are a few clips.
A happy music video full of sunshine!
Make a bowl and eat it all! (Just remember what your mother told you about eating raw egg.)
Information on deserts to take your mind off all the nasty rain.
Don’t forget, summer clothes! Vogue fashion shows for Spring/Summer 2013.
St. Scolastica the patroness of weather.
Homemade Limoncello - it’s like sunshine in a bottle.
Um, because it was too funny not to include.

2013 is going to be a big year for a lot of people, and companies: Aston Martin (the car company of 007 fame) is celebrating it’s centennial! I wouldn’t have known that if I hadn’t gone to see Skyfall the other day and fallen in love with the vintage Aston Martin that Bond pulls out of storage. Naturally after the movie I googled Aston Martin and learned a little about how the car and company came about their name. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s 2013! I hope your New Year is off to an amazing start! What are your resolutions for this year? Mine include:
1) Adoration once a week
2) Hire a financial planner (if left to my own designs I would stuff money in my mattress)
3) Take a trip outside the country
4) Start an Etsy Shop (ohh, yes, there is a pile of vintage bags hanging out under my bed waiting for this one)
5) Hike a tiny potion of the Appalachian Trail
6) See historical landmarks including: the Capitol, Monticello, Williamsburg and Gettysburg (it’s about time, don’t you think?)
7) Take more risks (I am not sure what this involves exactly, but as an overly cautious person it sounds like something I should do)
8) Find an armoire for my room
9) Have breakfast in a café once a week
10) Try a new restaurant once a month
I did a pretty good job keeping last year’s resolutions . . .
2012 was an awesome year! I can’t believe it is already coming to a close!
What are you doing for New Year’s? Last year I kicked off 2012 in NYC! It was so much fun! This year I am going to spend New Year’s curled up on my cozy couch with a little flute of bubbly – I think I am coming down with a cold or something and flouncing around in a frilly dress in 30 degree weather doesn’t sound like the best of ideas. I’d rather not kick off 2013 with the flu. (This leads me to believe that I have matured a lot. I remember a time in college when I went skiing while horribly sick, my rationale was I could either be sick on the slopes or sick in bed. The end result was the world’s worst sore throat. But I did have a blast. . . )
Tomorrow I’ll share my resolutions for 2013 with you (I would now but I haven’t made them yet! Maybe I should resolve not to procrastinate?)!
Have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve!
